Century City: Where The Skyline Meets The Stars

When I first got into real estate, I didn’t spend much time in Century City. Sure, it had its fair share of power players—think CAA, and the iconic Westfield Century City mall—but a lot of the residents were retirees, people who had scaled down from their larger family homes and were living in the area for convenience. But everything shifted when The Century came into the picture. With its groundbreaking arrival in 2010, this high-rise marvel turned the area into a major hot spot.

One of the most famous purchases was Candy Spelling’s landmark penthouse at The Century. She famously downsized from her enormous 57,000-square-foot estate, The Manor, to a more modest 18,000-square-foot penthouse. I mean, talk about scaling down! (I guess if you’re going to scale down, do it in style with an $47 million condo that has sweeping city views and floor-to-ceiling windows.) The Century's arrival marked a shift, elevating new, luxury high-rise living to an area The building quickly became home to some of LA's most exclusive residents, solidifying Century City as a place for the ultra-elite.

I actually forged a deeper connection with Century City during the pandemic. You’ll find that Equinox Fitness is an essential part of my daily routine—it’s my happy place. I’ve been to their locations around the world, and let me tell you, the rooftop gym at the Equinox Century City was something special. They had the gym set up in the parking structure of the mall, and while the outdoor gym has since closed, it was an absolute godsend during those crazy times. There’s something about doing yoga with a view of the city as the winter chill sets in—it just clicked. The instructor’s vibe helped me unwind and unplug, and since then, my main location has remained Century City due to its close proximity to Beverly Hills and its overall energy.

Pro Tip: If you want to catch the most breathtaking winter sunset in LA, head to the roof of the Century City building in January. Trust me—those views from Candy Spelling’s 18,000-square-foot penthouse would have been incredible for sunset-watching.
